Christine Banning, MA, CAE

President, National Parking Association

Christine Banning, CAE is the President of the National Parking Association. Established in 1951, NPA is a non profit trade association representing 80,000 parking professionals in more than 900 parking organizations across North America. NPA represents the owners, operators and parking leaders managing parking operations-across all sectors public and private. Its mission is to provide leadership in research, advocacy and professional development for parking leaders.

Since being named President in 2010, Banning has overseen the dramatic expansion of NPA's membership. Under her leadership, NPA's program has grown significantly to encompass new research studies, new parking policy & practice manuals and NPA University. Through her leadership, NPA focuses more broadly on the research, demographic and urban planning aspects of parking in the 21st century. To improve NPA's ability to expand its programs, she worked with NPA's volunteer leadership to streamline governance & expand NPA's network of industry experts and the prestigious NPA Parking Consultants Council.

She is responsible for implementing NPA's strategic plan and vision on behalf of the NPA Board of Directors and its members. She is charged with setting research, professional development and advocacy agendas, and expanding NPA outreach throughout North America-working with the professional staff and industry champions.

Prior to joining NPA, Banning led a national and chapter based association with more than 10,000 members and 500,000+ B2B customers. Since Banning joined NPA, the organization's membership has grown 60 percent. In that time, the organization launched a series of historical firsts-its first industry market study, industry buying power survey, issue alerts program, and an annual Fair Tax Policy Forum.

Banning is a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Florida Parking Association, International Women's Forum and Women in Parking. She previously service on the American Airlines Advisory Council on Women's Business Segment Strategy. She served on the Washington, D.C. Board of Dress for Success. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Marietta College and a Master's degree from The American University. She holds the Certified Association Executive credential.
