NPA Honors Regina McLaurin with Harwood Leadership & Legends Award

The National Parking Association (NPA) honored Regina McLaurin of The McLaurin Parking Company with the parking industry’s highest honor, the Harwood Leadership & Legends Award. The award was presented to McLaurin at the NPA Winter Leadership Forum. This prestigious national honor recognizes lifelong leadership, excellence and integrity.
“The NPA Board of Directors chose to honor Regina McLaurin with a lifetime achievement award for her long-standing contributions to the parking industry as Chair of the Parking Industry Institute (PII), NPA’s charity and as a past NPA Board leader and as the first woman Board Chair of NPA,” said NPA President Christine Banning, IOM, CAE. Banning added, “Regina McLaurin has been a lifelong parking leader and positive influence on the industry who is well respected throughout the industry for her integrity and passion for education scholarships.”
Tom Carter, Chair of the Board of Trustees of PII and Brett Harwood a past NPA Board Chair and namesake of the award presented the honors. Brett Harwood said, “Regina has been a leader of the parking industry—the first woman to be President and Chair of the NPA. She has been a great colleague and inspiration to many at the NPA, including me. She has led our Parking Industry Institute which has provided scholarships for 2 generations of youth and served as a mentor to many through the years.”
Regina McLaurin is retired from The McLaurin Parking Company, where she served as President and Chief Financial Officer in Raleigh, NC since 1970. She served as President of the board of directors for the Raleigh Merchants Bureau, member of the Cary Town Council, Chairman of the Wake County Planning Board and member of the board of directors for Wake Medical Center. McLaurin earned her Bachelor’s degree from Methodist College in 1970 and was recognized as Alumni Business Person of the Year in 2017. Over several decades, McLaurin Parking Company grew into a large parking operator in the Southeastern United States, serving municipalities, hospitals, universities, and special events.
About the Award
The Board of Directors of NPA established the Brett Harwood Leadership & Legends Award in 2013 to honor lifetime achievement in parking industry leadership. McLaurin is the sixth recipient of the award and was honored February 8th at the association’s Winter Leadership Forum.
