The Industry Newsmakers column in Parking magazine consists of four sections:
- Movers & Shakers
- Company News
- Partnerships & Deals
- New Products
Submit Your News: To submit news for consideration in any of these sections, please email editorial@WeAreParking.org with your press release, hi-res photos, or other information.
News Review: The editorial team reviews the submittals and prepares a balanced mix of news each month for inclusion in the magazine. The team makes every effort to rotate companies included each month.
Please note, as a print publication, production for each edition often starts months in advance, so news may be appear beyond the submittal date.
Content Usage: NPA retains the full right to retain and use any news, photos and materials submitted. If material is no longer to be used, NPA must be notified in writing via email to editorial@WeAreParking.org.
Member Spotlight Column

Interested in writing an article for Parking magazine? NPA is seeking articles from members that provide insights into trends, technology or issues/solutions in the parking industry.
Articles may not favor any commercial product/service and should use generic product names where possible.

View the Editorial Calendar to see the corresponding monthly themes of the magazine, e.g. Valet, Hospitals, Universities, etc.
The annual editorial plan is prepared a year in advance. However, opportunities often arise during the year to substitute an article. If space is not available, articles can also be considered for posting in the NPA’s online reference database. All editorial decisions are reserved by the editorial team.
To submit an article for consideration:
- First email editorial@WeAreParking.org with the category, topic and author information.
- The editorial team will evaluate the topic proposal and if approved, determine space availability and deadline. You will receive an email reply.
- Write the story to the required word count, including supplemental elements
- Sentence length should be 17-23 words.
- Include several sub heads, 3-4 words long, throughout the article.
- Include references/citations as appropriate
- Create text for a how-to call out box, provide a chart or sidebar information
- Include the author contact information line at the end of the article: FIRSTNAME LASTNAME is TITLE for COMPANY. Email HIM/HER at EMAIL ADDRESS.
- Save file as a Word doc; include company name and author name
- Provide art elements:
- Hi-res headshot photo of the author, .jpg format
- Any accompanying illustrations/artwork, photos in .jpg, .eps or .tiff format, with a minimum of 300 dpi resolution
- Include captions/credits if needed
Once your article topic is approved, the submitted article must be exclusive to Parking magazine. It cannot have been previously submitted or be submitted in future to any other industry publication. As an author, you are responsible for the accuracy of your article and that it does not infringe on any other copyright. All published submissions become the property of the National Parking Association. NPA does not pay for articles; we do recognize an author with a byline and photo. An author of an accepted article will be required to sign an editorial release before publication of the article. NPA reserves the right to reject any submission at the discretion of the editor. NPA reserves the right to submit any articles to a rigorous editorial review process and make adjustments as needed. NPA reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the inclusion of any article at the discretion of the editor. Adverting and editorial content are independent of each other and will not inform editorial decisions.
